General LTE FAQs

LTE are data bundles that provide internet through a wireless connection using a compatible LTE router at a specific location. These bundles offer reliable connectivity without the need for a landline, with data allocated monthly and the option for top-ups or booster packages if needed.

When purchasing your LTE service you have the choice of purchasing a router. If you have an existing router that is compatible with the LTE service, then you do not have to purchase one. Have a look here to view a list of compatible routers.

Your router will arrive within 3-5 working days. Keep an eye on your SMS for the tracking number and get ready—couriers will reach out to arrange the perfect delivery date and time!

With our month-to-month LTE packages, you’re in control! Just give us one calendar month’s notice to cancel, and you’re good to go.

You’ll pay a pro-rata amount upfront at checkout, covering your order date through to the end of that month, plus your Order Processing Fee and router cost (if applicable). From the following month onward, you’ll be billed your full monthly fee via debit order on the 1st of each month.

Upgrades: Ready for more? Your upgrade request for capped LTE takes effect within 3 days!

Downgrades: Want to scale back? If you request a downgrade before the 15th, it kicks in on the 1st of the next month. If you
miss the 15th, don’t worry; it’ll be effective the following month.

Canceling: Need to cancel? Just give us one calendar month’s notice—easy as that!

There is no separate delivery fee, but a standard once-off Order Processing Fee of R250 (incl. VAT) applies to every LTE order. This covers your RICA processing and the delivery of your SIM Card and/or router.

Yes, we offer month-to-month packages that let you enjoy hassle-free service on your terms! No long-term commitments—just the freedom to choose what works best for you. View all available packages here.

We’re working with our LTE Network Operators (MTN and Telkom) to expand coverage across South Africa! Search your address and see what other services you may be covered with.

AUP stands for Acceptable Use Policy – it’s our way of keeping things fair and balanced for everyone on the network. Once you reach your AUP, your speed will be throttled (reduced) for the rest of the calendar month to ensure fair access for all users, but you’ll stay connected – just at a slower speed.

A Booster restores your speed to your package’s full advertised speed for the remainder of the calendar month. The available Booster can be used on any Telkom LTE package/speed, and you can buy more than one in a month if you need to. Booster data does not carry over – any unused Booster data falls away at the end of the calendar month. View the available Booster packages here.

Awesome news, just contact us, and we’ll connect you to one of our Fibre services in no time. Get ready for lightning-fast
speeds and seamless streaming!

LTE usually gives you a private IP address, meaning your connection shares a public IP with other users. This can limit direct access to your device from the internet. If you need a public IP, please contact MTNor Telkom to see if it’s available.

We’ve got great options for you! Choose from our uncapped MTN and Telkom packages, tailored to fit your needs.

MTN FAQs

Absolutely! This is a RICA product, which means we need your ID and proof of address (dated within the last three months) for our records. On delivery day, the contract holder must receive the parcel and present the required documents.
No worries! You can have it sent anywhere you like. Make sure to power your router and SIM at the intended usage location (this would be the address you ordered your LTE services for). If you turn it on somewhere else, it will lock to the nearest tower, and you’ll need to unlock the SIM to use it properly.
To enjoy the MTN Fixed LTE network, only approved CAT6 devices will do! If you insert your new SIM card into a CAT4 router, it will be locked, and you’ll need to contact our support team to unlock it.

For a hassle-free experience, consider purchasing the Cudy LT700 4G LTE Router Router when placing your LTE order.

The activation of your new MTN LTE SIM can take up to 24-48 hours to activate from the time the SIM is inserted into the device.

With the MTN LTE Network, you can enjoy averages between 10-250 Mbps! Just keep in mind, your actual speed may vary based on your device and coverage.

You can view all available packages here.
When you choose an MTN Fixed LTE capped package, you get a combo of “Any Time” data and “Night Time” data.

Any Time Data: Use it whenever you like, valid until the end of the month (up to 31 days). Plus, it rolls over for 30 days!

Night Time Data: Perfect for late-night surfing, valid from 12 AM to 5 AM but expires within the same calendar month.

How does capped usage work? It’s simple! Data depletes in this order:

Rollover Any Time data
Inclusive Any Time data
Inclusive Night Time Bundle
Top-Up Data (if Any Time data runs out)

It’s important to provide the correct address where your device will be used because MTN Fixed LTE is location-based and only works within approved coverage areas. The LTE SIM card gets locked to the location you specify during sign-up, ensuring you get the best coverage possible. Using the device outside the registered address may cause connectivity issues or restrictions.

No worries! You can request to have your Home LTE service relocated to your new address once a year. Just let us know, and we’ll make the transition smooth and easy!

Stay connected, no matter where you call home!

With MTN Fixed LTE, your SIM card is linked to the nearest cellular towers at your registered address. If you move your router, it will be “soft locked,” meaning it can only be reactivated once it’s back at the original location.

Telkom FAQs

Telkom LTE is a mobile wireless data service that gives you high-speed internet using Telkom’s LTE network. Unlike a fixed-line or Fibre connection, Telkom LTE isn’t tied to a single address – it can be used anywhere within Telkom’s LTE coverage area, using an RSAWEB Telkom LTE SIM Card and a compatible router.

Yes. Telkom LTE is a RICA-regulated product, so we’re legally required to verify your identity before your SIM Card can be activated. RSAWEB completes your RICA registration remotely as part of your order, so you don’t need to have documents ready for a courier on delivery day.

Every Telkom LTE order automatically includes a Telkom LTE SIM Card, which forms a mandatory part of the Service and can’t be removed. For your router, you’ll choose between two options at checkout: a compact pocket router ideal if you want to use your data on the go as well as at home, or our main LTE router, ideal for a fixed home or office setup with more connected devices.

Absolutely! This is a RICA product, which means we need your ID and proof of address (dated within the last three months) for our records.

In general, any LTE-compatible router can be used on the Telkom network. Telkom also keeps a list of routers it has tested and recommends, most of which are 5G-capable devices – you can view Telkom’s current Approved Router list here. For a hassle-free experience, we recommend choosing the Mercusys MT110 or Mercusys MB235-4G when you place your Telkom LTE order.

If the router you’ve selected is temporarily out of stock, RSAWEB may substitute it with an alternative device of equal or greater specification so that your order isn’t delayed. We’ll make reasonable efforts to let you know if this happens.

Telkom LTE is available exclusively as an Uncapped service, across six tiers. You can view our current packages and pricing here

Every Telkom LTE package includes an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) data allowance at your package’s full advertised speed. Once you reach your AUP for the month, your speed is reduced for the remainder of that calendar month, then resets to full speed on the 1st. View the current AUP threshold for each package here

No. Unlike MTN Fixed LTE, Telkom LTE is a mobile service – it isn’t locked to a single address, and you can use it anywhere within Telkom’s LTE coverage area.

Yes. Because Telkom LTE is a mobile service and not locked to a fixed address, you can use your router anywhere within Telkom’s LTE coverage area, without needing to request a relocation.

No problem – because Telkom LTE isn’t address-locked, you can simply take your router and SIM Card with you and use them at your new address, provided it’s within Telkom’s LTE coverage area. Just be sure to inform us of your change of address for our records.

Once your RICA registration is complete and your SIM Card has been delivered, your Telkom LTE service will activate as soon as the SIM is inserted into your router. To allow for registration and network processing time, please allow up to 1–2 hours for activation to complete.

If a payment is missed, your Service may be suspended. If you settle the outstanding amount while your Service is suspended only (and not yet cancelled), it will be reactivated using your existing SIM Card – no new SIM is required. However, if your Service is cancelled, whether due to non-payment or your own request, a new SIM Card may need to be issued, shipped to you, and re-RICA’d before the Service can be restored (once-off fees may be applicable).

Yes – all Telkom LTE packages are month-to-month, with no long-term contract required.

Coverage is checked using Telkom’s network coverage tool at the time of your order. If you’re not covered for Telkom LTE, search your address here to see what other services may be available to you.

Great news either way! Give us a call and we’ll help you move over to one of our Fibre services.
