With so much to do this summer, it’s essential to set aside some downtime to recharge—and there’s no better way to unwind than by binge-watching movies alone or with loved ones. This summer, RSAWEB has you covered with our recommended must-watch movies for the festive season. Whether you have Netflix, Showmax Disney Plus or more, we’ve got you!

Must-watch movies:

Rebel Ridge:

An ex-marine finds himself caught in the middle of a corrupt small-town police force as they illegally seize his money while he’s en route to bail out his cousins. The authorities believe they’re dealing with an ordinary citizen, but they soon realise he’s not one to be underestimated. Starring Hollywood’s latest heartthrob, Aaron Pierce, this action-packed Netflix original is sure to keep you in suspense throughout.

Poor things:

This star-studded film, led by Emma Stone, follows a young woman brought back to life by a brilliant scientist. She later escapes and sets off on various adventures around the world, exploring different facets of what it means to be human in society and challenging commonly accepted practices. This award-winning movie can be streamed on Disney Plus. Sit back and let the film take you on an adventure from the comfort of your own home.

Sandlot:

There’s nothing quite like watching a classic, and few summer films compare to The Sandlot. The story follows a boy new to the neighbourhood who befriends local kids over their shared love for baseball. As their friendship grows, they embark on a series of fun-filled adventures. During one game, they hit the ball over a fence into a yard guarded by a large, menacing dog feared by the entire neighbourhood. Now, they must find a way to retrieve it! Stream this feel-good movie and reminisce about childhood on Disney Plus.

Challengers:

A former tennis star turned coach manages to elevate her husband from a mid-level player to one of the world’s best. However, during a losing streak, she encourages him to enter a lower-level tournament, where he unexpectedly faces off against her ex-boyfriend. Tensions quickly arise—but what kind of tension exactly? Starring the ever-beautiful Zendaya, this film is available to stream on Amazon Prime.

Happiness is:

This local romcom follows a woman about to reach a major milestone as she turns 40. Despite wanting a low-key birthday, her best friend has other plans. At the party, her life begins to unravel as she finds herself in an awkward situation. Starring the talented Renate Stuurman, this must-watch film is available to stream on Netflix.

This list of films is sure to meet your needs for enjoyment and entertainment this summer. If movies aren’t your thing, be sure to stream our summer Spotify playlist, curated by our staff to bring the perfect vibes to your summer gatherings.
