Where Connection Meets Community

When people think of RSAWEB, they often think of fast, reliable internet connectivity. While delivering exceptional internet services remains at the core of what we do, connectivity has always represented something bigger than technology alone.

Across South Africa, access to the internet has become an essential tool for education, employment, entrepreneurship, and community development. As technology continues to shape the way people learn, work, and connect, businesses have an important role to play in ensuring that these opportunities are accessible to more people.

This belief forms the foundation of RSAWEB’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. Through a range of initiatives focused on digital inclusion, education, community upliftment, and sport, RSAWEB is helping create opportunities that extend far beyond connectivity.

Bridging the digital divide through education

Access to quality internet has become increasingly important in modern education. However, many schools and learners across South Africa still face barriers when it comes to accessing digital learning resources.

To help address this challenge, RSAWEB’s Connected Schools Programme provides high-speed fibre connectivity to more than 160 schools across the country. Connected classrooms provide learners and educators with access to online educational resources, digital learning platforms, research tools, and collaborative learning opportunities. Collaboration with important programme like Project Isizwe  and Huddle, contributes to initiatives that promote digital inclusion and expand access to connectivity in underserved communities.  To date these programmes have shown:

  • Connecting over 100 000 children to digital learning
  • A 70% increase in focused learning time
  • A significant increase in matriculant pass rate in partner schools

The power of connecting through sport and education

Sport is proven to provide a healthy outlet for children and young adults and in a country like South Africa that is sports mad, we have chosen to partner with organisations that look at the holistic health of young people.

The VUSA Rugby and Learning Academy in Langa, Cape Town continues to carry out extraordinary work that empowers youth through sports, academic support, mentorship and essential resources, fostering resilience and breaking the cycle of poverty. As the connectivity partner, RSAWEB continues to work with VUSA to ensure that learners have quality digital access to the resources they need to thrive.  Over the past year VUSA has impacted over 1500 local children and created employment for over 30 people within the programme.

Supporting community development

RSAWEB’s CSR initiatives extend beyond schools and into communities where access to technology can support personal growth, education, and employment opportunities.

Partnerships with organisations such as The Haven Night Shelter and the Amazing Grace Upliftment Centre provide reliable connectivity to facilities that support both young people and adults. Access to the internet enables learners to complete schoolwork and access educational resources, while adults can explore job opportunities, online learning platforms, and skills development programmes.

As part of these efforts, RSAWEB has also facilitated CV writing workshops designed to help job seekers improve their employability and gain confidence when pursuing career opportunities.

These initiatives highlight how digital access can support broader community development goals by creating pathways to education, skills development, and economic participation.

Promoting cyber safety and digital awareness

As internet access continues to expand, digital literacy and online safety have become increasingly important.

To support safer digital participation, RSAWEB incorporates cyber safety education into its CSR programme. Through workshops and educational initiatives, learners, parents, educators, and community members are equipped with practical knowledge to navigate the online world responsibly.

Topics such as online safety, responsible digital citizenship, privacy awareness, and cyber threat prevention help ensure that individuals can make the most of digital opportunities while protecting themselves online.

Digital inclusion is most effective when access to technology is paired with the knowledge needed to use it safely and confidently.

At RSAWEB, connectivity is about more than keeping people online; it is about helping connect people to opportunities, resources, and possibilities that can help shape a better future for all.

Because every connection matters.

Because every connection matters.

1. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is

If you receive an unexpected message about potentially winning a prize, chances are it may be fraudulent. If you have any doubts, don’t proceed with any given instructions.

2. Do not click on website links you do not trust

Even if it comes from a friend or a family member, it could still potentially be a scam. Look carefully at the web address to make sure it’s spelt correctly. If you’re not sure, type it directly into the browser bar at the top of your screen. A secure site will also have https:// at the start of its address. But remember, these do not mean a site is genuine. A scam link can take you to a fake site or a pop-up where you’re asked to enter personal details. Fraudsters can use your details to try to scam you in the future. Only click on a link or a pop-up from a source you trust.

3. Do not give out your personal information

When asked for your address or contact details, ask yourself – do you trust the source? Never give out your bank account details. Be careful if you’re asked to log on to your social media account as this could give away personal details which could be used to steal your identity. Also, keep your passwords private at all times.

4. Don’t send money for a prize

If a message or call asks you to send money for a prize you’ve won in a competition, it’s a scam. You never have to send money to receive a genuine prize.

What a promotion from RSAWEB will and will not have:

RSAWEB will:

  • Display the RSAWEB logo.
Smiling bearded man with dreadlocks exploring an urban street, embodying the freedom of a digital nomad
  • Our website links will only ever direct you to https://www.rsaweb.co.za/ OR https://shop.rsaweb.co.za/
Close-up view of a laptop screen displaying a video call with diverse faces, illustrating remote collaboration
  • If you receive an email from RSAWEB it will always be from an rsaweb.co.za or .net email address. If the email address looks unrecognisable, has a different name or weird characters then it is a scam, do not open it.

RSAWEB will not:

  • Will never ask for your banking details.
  • Will never ask for your secure details of your banking information, like PIN numbers.
  • Will never ask for your social media or any other login details.
  • Will never ask you to pay a fee to claim a prize you have supposedly won or to improve your chance of winning.
